Short Bio
Dr. Kyriacos Themistocleous is an Architect, with an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana, USA, a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Oklahoma, and a PhD and a post-doctoral degree in geoinformatics, urban planning and spatial planning. He is a licensed architect in Cyprus as well as in the United States of America.
He has worked on a variety of architectural and urban planning studies in both private and public projects in Cyprus and abroad and has taught at the Cyprus University of Technology, the University of Cyprus, the University of Neapolis and Frederic University. He was a member of the Board of Directors of ETEK from 2017 to 2020, of the General Board of ETEK from 2011 to present, member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Section of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and president of the Cyprus Remote Sensing Society.
He is also active in the Maritime Spatial Planning Committee of the Republic of Cyprus, the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee of the Department of Environment, the Aesthetic Control Committee of the Limassol Town Planning Department and the Parallel Parliament for the Environment, Ecology-Sustainability and Health.
In recent years he has been involved in numerous research projects in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology, as well as with the EXCELSIOR project for the creation of the Eratosthenes Center of Excellence where he holds the position of Technical Director of the program and Director of External Affairs & Development of the Center of Excellence.
He has more than 325 publications in international scientific journals, book chapters and conference proceedings.
