Eleanor Fink has built a career devoted to helping organizations preserve their cultural heritage through information policies, documentation practices and standards. The core documentation standards in use today around the globe for cataloguing cultural property are the result of her initiative and leadership. She has held senior positions at the Smithsonian, J. Paul Getty Trust, and the World Bank. She is one of the founding directors of the Getty Center in Los Angeles where she headed the Getty Information Institute (GII). Eleanor serves on the advisory committees of the Department of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University, New Jersey; the EU’s Virtual Multimodal Museum project; and Marie Curie Research Program on the Initial Training Network for Digital Cultural Heritage, Limassol, Cyprus. She is a former director of the Museum Computer Network and a former president of the Visual Resources Association.
