The Future of the Virtual Past
Description of the event
This workshop was led by Cambridge and the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max-Planck Institut für Kunstgeschichte. This purpose was to bring together leading projects in the field from the UK and German research areas, together with other specialists from the US, Italy, and Eastern Europe, to achieve a critical mass amongst Digital Art History modelling and mapping projects in the Medieval and Early Modern periods. The key aim was to establish a network, or consortium, of projects working in different areas but with shared challenges. The network would seek to provide a framework for advancing shared methodologies and protocols, developing best practice and offering a degree of peer review currently lacking in the field.
Involvement and mission
Members of the project took part in this two-day online workshop with the goal of establishing potential networks and future collaborations. In addition, participation would offer the chance to build an international network for sharing best practices regarding standards. This brainstorming session set the foundations for the main event that will take place 27-28/06/2022.
Impact
The organizers of the event invited the Mnemosyne team to actively participate in the first organization meeting of the event. The invitation to participate came from two of the world’s highly respected and ranked research and education institutions.
