Online event of the National Committee of ICOMOS Cyprus and the Cypriot Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities

Description of the event

An online event took place in February 2021 between the Cypriot National Committee of ICOMOS and officials from the office of the Cypriot Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities. The Commissioner Mr. Costas Hambiaouris opened the event and gave a keynote about “The National Strategy for the Development of the Troodos Mountain Communities”.

Involvement and mission

The ERA Chair project has been invited to give a presentation in the area of “Mass Digitization of the Memory of Cyprus villages and communities – Implementation of the EU DigitalDay2019 Declaration“. At least 20 presidents of the council boards from different mountain villages and other key members of the boards and the Cypriot government were actively involved in the different discussions related to the digital documentation and preservation of their memory through Europeana.

The event was a very good opportunity to present the project and it’s contribution to the development of a National and Regional digital cultural heritage policy.
