Joint Event Copyright Directive 2019/790
Description of the event
The aim of this event was the productive discussion on issues such as the implications of the implementation of the Directive in the Media and on artists, writers, photographers and other related professions, e-learning and online education and digital governance. The digitization of cultural heritage, its use and re-use also be discussed, as well as the right of beneficiaries not to make their works available in exchange for users right to free access to information and to express themselves freely.
Involvement and mission
Commitment of all stakeholders, the Legal Service, the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Trade, the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy and the Pancyprian Bar Association of Directive 2019/790. Creation of a pan-Cypriot enlightenment platform with the active participation of all stakeholders, coordinated by the Ministry responsible for the implementation of this Directive. Enlightenment of citizens on how to manage sensitive data on social media, such as those of cultural heritage. Existence of open dialogue and consultation with all stakeholders in Cyprus to consider their rights, obligations and concerns.
Impact
This event involved around 60 participants, many of whom were officials in government policy-making instruments.
