Final Event, Meta-Pandemic GLAMers (Hybrid)
The Cyprus University of Technology invite you to the Final Event of “Meta-Pandemic” GLAMers at Poseidonia Beach Hotel, Limassol, Cyprus. The European project “The GLAMers” (Erasmus+, 2021-2023), is under the direct coordination of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) through the UNESCO Chair in Digital Cultural Heritage in collaboration with the EU Project MNEMOSYNE (H2020 ERA CHAIR), Europe Direct Limassol and the Coordinating Council of Limassol Cultural Orginisations.
Brief description of the Project:
The COVID-19 crisis has had an impact on a wide range of human activities, including the cultural and creative sector in Europe. Through the pandemic, the importance of digital transformation and the significant gap that exists in dealing with the pandemic between cultural institutions (galleries, libraries, archives, museums, known by the acronym GLAM: Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) have been highlighted.
The goals of the project “The GLAMers” are:
- Provide a collection of good practices regarding youth engagement as a means of GLAM recovery during the COVID-19pandemic.
- For the recovery of cultural institutions during the pandemic. This collection will be enriched with an analysis of challenges, opportunities, and hidden potential of the value of youth engagement in GLAMs’ rebirth.
- Offer advice and training opportunities to support GLAMs in their digital transformation through the participation of youth. Allow GLAMs to implement and then assess the digitally enhanced activities involving youth.
- Map social changes in relation to attitudes, stances and behaviours amongst GLAMs and youth (young persons, cultural youth organizations, young artists) in regard to cultural and civic values for better societies.
The partners come from all over Europe and form a wide range of complementary profiles: a university (Cyprus University of Technology), an NGO aimed at youth communities (Citizens in Power, Cyprus), an SME for open and social learning (Web2Learn, Greece), a national museum (Museum of Arts and Crafts, Croatia) and a pan-European network of cultural institutions (Michael Culture Association). The consortium of partners has been created to ensure a presence in different geographical areas of Europe.
The day is designed as a moment to explore the main results of the project, but it will also be an opportunity to take stock of the post-pandemic situation of European GLAMs (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums). Key- speakers are going to join the conversation.
